Professional Certificate in Logistics Planning*

In 2005 the Industrial Logistics Institute undertook analysis for some logistics courses and programs.

Throughout the investigation Industrial Logistics Institute observed a number of things that were lacking. What was lacking was a skill set necessary to help even existing logistics practitioners in areas of planning and logistics analysis.

Certainly the topics of logistics pricing, benefit cost analysis for logistics, business case construction, best logistics networks, e-Business and the actual mechanics of benchmarking were almost NEVER addressed by the academic and/or training programs.

The Institute short courses for:

  • Logistics Planner, and

  • Logistics Analyst

were developed as a result of this analysis.

who should do the course?

The course is aimed at staff, who want more technical skills in the logistics areas of operations, finance, planning and strategy.

The high level teaching of the courses has been tailored to cater for Executives within a single company environment or through Industry bodies and associations.

courses will start in 2009

Arrangements can be made through the Institute for groups or for individuals to do the first units for the program.

Both Units will be offered for teaching early in 2009 and again in the second six months of 2009. Units can be run over a weekend should companies so wish.

This has proved popular with a number of companies as it is easy to select a desired unit to study and staff are not away from the workplace during critical trading periods.

how long does the course take?

Initially the course consists of two units. Each unit takes two days for training with a significant group assignment.

At completion of the 2 units, successful candidates will be awarded a Professional Certificate in Logistics Planning.

entry requirements

Course candidates should have a minimum of three years working experience in transport and logistics related industry or in related disciplines.
